I haven't been home to Australia for 3.5 years, I recently returned to home to photograph a destination wedding at The White House in Hahndorf, located in the Adelaide Hills. The White House holds a special place in my heart, as it was one of the first wedding venues I worked at 12 years ago when I lived in Australia. This time, however, it was even more special, as I was photographing a same-sex couple's wedding who had been planning their big day for five long years.
The pandemic has caused countless disruptions and cancellations, making it nearly impossible for couples to celebrate their special day as they had planned. But after years of waiting, this couple was finally able to tie the knot, and it was a celebration like no other. Guests traveled from all over Australia and even Canada to be there and share in the joy of their love.
As a photographer, it was an honor to capture the couple's love and commitment to each other. The day was filled with so much joy, happiness, and love that it was impossible not to feel inspired. The couple's love and commitment to each other shone through every aspect of the day, from the ceremony to the reception.
The White House is a stunning location for a wedding. With its beautiful gardens, vineyards, and charming historic buildings, it provided the perfect backdrop for this special occasion. From the ceremony under the trees to the speeches and dancing under the stars, the wedding was truly a magical experience.
This wedding reminded me of the importance of love and commitment, especially during times of uncertainty and turmoil. Despite the challenges and obstacles, this couple persevered, and their love triumphed. It was an honor to capture their special day and to be a part of their love story.
I'm heading back to Vancouver this Monday to get ready for another big season as a wedding photographer in Vancouver.
